… it’s all uphill

by Ali on January 31, 2010

There is a theme emerging for all my runs this training session, hills, hills and more hills. It’s to prepare your legs for Around the Bay. My brain realizes the benefits, my quads are a little less agreeable. If I turn down the volume on the tv I can hear them screaming, just like the lambs … Clarice

Tuesday night, hill repeats. Thursday night a very hilly run in arctic conditions. Actually, I found the route more challenging than the -21 temperatures, until the last mile of the run when we got stopped by a train. Ever wonder how long it takes to go from warm and sweaty to hypothermia? 12 seconds. After 3 minutes you start smiling at strangers in their warm heated cars hoping for an invite.

Today, was our long run, which just means you can fit in more hills. Bang for your buck.

I had a good run, and did the last 6 miles by myself. Without stopping for any of the 275 reasons that pop into my head. Feel free to praise or send me gifts for this accomplishment!

I made my favourite dinner tonight. It comes from an appetizer recipe that I’ve adapted to dinner since I love it. It suppose to served with melted cheese on top and nacho chips. I leave out those yummy ingredients* and serve it in a wrap with avocado.

taken with the fabulous new canon rebel. I’m practicing zooming in. I have a lesson on Wednesday night, then I’ll be turning professional …

* cause I have willpower of steel … and I plan to eat half a jar of peanut butter for dessert.

I hear you on the hills. We started hill training last Thursday (which we do on the hills at the end of the ATB course). Then on our long run yesterday, our coach gave us a route that covered the hills in the middle part of the course.
You know, cause 24km isn’t run enough in -17 degrees.

Nice job on those hilly runs! After two hilly runs this weekend, my quads are also screaming. Your dinner looks delicious . . . feel free to box some up and send it to me. :)

LOL @ the 275 reasons comment.

My husband and I stopped to walk in the middle of a cold run outside and I thought I was going to freeze. BAD idea! I will never do that again!

I made this for dinner yesterday. It is delicious. I opted for mushroomless melted cheese version.

Thanks for the dinner inspiration.

Quentewen …

thanks for the link … I’m tense from a 3 minute trailer.

Gerard Butler as a killer is wrong. His power is seduction. I don’t like evil Gerard.
